I was born six days after the New York Yankees won the 1962 World Series. Therefore, I was nearly 15 years old in October 1977 when I finally got to experience my first Yankee World Series championship.

On the 40th anniversary of that momentous season, I have created this blog for fellow Yankee fans - some who remember that year, and hopefully some who don't and will be enlightened. It's a day-by-day remembrance of a season that was filled with incredible drama - both on the field and off - and ended with one of the greatest performances in World Series history, Reggie Jackson's three home runs in Game 6 against the Dodgers.

Each day, I will tweet out the link to the newest post at 9 a.m., so I hope you'll bookmark the blog and follow along throughout the year, even though you know the ending.

I found this video on YouTube that gives you a good feel for what you'll read here on the blog every day. And it's cool that Foreigner's Feels Like The First Time is the soundtrack because, as I said, this was my first Yankees World Series winner.
