Off days in 1977 for the Yankees mean player profile days on the blog. Here's the first on first baseman Chris Chambliss.

Chambliss came to New York from Cleveland in a trade that also brought pitcher Dick Tidrow and first baseman Cecil Upshaw to New York in exchange for pitchers Fritz Peterson, Tom Buskey, Fred Beene, and Steve Kline. None of those players did much of anything for the Indians, but Tidrow was a tremendously versatile weapon for the Yankees, and Chambliss became one of the Yankees' all-time finest first basemen.

I'll be back tomorrow with another post as the Yankees finish off their set with the Royals.
